VILLA WITH EXCELLENT SEA AND MOUNTAIN VIEWS

Located on top of a hillside, within one of the most consolidated urbanizations in Valencia, Casa de la Cantera was born from the extreme conditions of the terrain with the desire to climb the slope to gain views of the landscape.

The scheme of the house consists of a superposition of boxes embraced by the land itself. The house is embedded in the mountain through a void that makes it independent of its immediate surroundings, generating its own universe that gathers the inhabitant.

The lower part of the house is crouched and integrated into the terrain while the upper part opens onto two contrasting landscapes: on the one hand, the views are directed towards the sea seeking a connection with the horizon with the intermediate filter of the pool; and on the other towards the Mediterranean mountain.

In the upper part, defined as a fluid space, the day areas converge. The terrace and the pool have been conceived as an extension of the plant and a connection with the landscape. The pool is a prism that extends in the heights flying over the rooms and the gym.

The idea of ​​openness is reinforced by a glass front façade, without any type of intermediate support, which frames a panoramic view towards the sea. By opening the views to the front and supporting only the lateral planes, a sensation of lightness and transparency is obtained that makes Casa de la Cantera a serene place, connected to the horizon. The massive and structural appearance of the house is a projection of the expressiveness of the raw materials.

The swarm of white concrete executed in situ is pierced by a central core of backlit yellow onyx that vertically sews the entire house by means of stairs made of the same material. The overhanging steps are expressed as large solid onyx boards that emit light from all sides. This effect is produced thanks to a new patented design for its internal structure.

The large backlit natural stone formats give the house a tectonic character that metaphorically connects it to the bowels of the earth.

The impressive pieces of vulcano onyx acquire an almost sculptural character, participating in the night stays as a canvas on which to admire the plastic qualities of natural stone.
